XG603-1A Matting Additive Formulation
The reaction ratio of this matting agent with Epoxy Resin is approximately 1:8–10, and it is suitable for achieving 5–70% gloss at 60° (5–10% in pure epoxy systems and 10–70% in hybrid systems).
Select the gloss range you need according to the table below:
Dosage | Gloss range | Description |
---|---|---|
< 1% | No matting will achieve | Dosage less than %1 is not recommended |
1 % | 50-70% | – |
2 % | 30-50% | – |
3 % | 20-30% | – |
4 % | 10-20% | – |
5 % | 7-10% | For pure epoxy system use only |
6 % | 5-7% | For pure epoxy system use only |
6% < | – | Dosage more than %6 might damage the paint surface |
- The above table is not certain, the degree of certain gloss also depends on the resin.
- The epoxy equivalent should be in the range of 750-800. Gloss will change according to the epoxy equivalent.

For example, to achieve a gloss level of 5–10% in a formulation using pure epoxy resin:
Total resin content: 60%
Matting agent dosage: 5% (depending on the desired gloss level)
Type of resin: Pure epoxy resin
We consider 50 parts of epoxy to react with 5 parts of matting agent (based on the fact that each 1 part of this matting agent reacts with 10 parts of epoxy resin).
